Cookie Policy

A short, honest explanation of which cookies KoalaFul uses, why, and how to turn them off.

"The cookies we use are the boring kind — the ones that keep you logged in and tell us which features people actually use. No advertising trackers, no cross-site profiling."

1. What is a cookie

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device. Cookies remember things like whether you're logged in, what theme you prefer, and (sometimes) which pages you visited. They're how the modern web stays useful between page loads.

2. What we use

KoalaFul uses three categories of cookies. The first is essential for the product to work; the others are optional and can be turned off.

Essential cookies Required

These keep you logged in, remember your preferences across sessions, and protect against attacks. The product doesn't work without them — there's no consent toggle because turning them off would break the site.

CookiePurposeDuration
kf_sessionKeeps you logged in to your accountSession
kf_csrfProtects against cross-site request forgery attacksSession
kf_prefsRemembers your editor preferences (theme, panels)1 year

Analytics cookies Optional

These help us understand which features people actually use, so we can prioritise the right work. We use privacy-respecting analytics that don't identify individual users and don't profile you across other websites.

CookiePurposeDuration
kf_analyticsAnonymous usage statistics (pages, features, errors)30 days

Preference cookies Optional

These remember things across visits that aren't strictly necessary but make the product nicer to use.

kf_dismissRemembers tips and prompts you've dismissed1 year

3. What we do not use

  • No advertising cookies. KoalaFul shows no ads, so there's nothing to track for advertising purposes.
  • No cross-site tracking. We don't follow you across other websites.
  • No social media trackers. Sharing buttons (if any) don't load until you interact with them.
  • No fingerprinting. We don't try to identify your device beyond what's standard for the browser.

4. Third-party cookies

A few third-party services set cookies on our behalf for specific purposes:

  • Google Fonts / Bunny Fonts — for serving the typefaces used on the site. These CDNs may set their own cookies governed by their privacy policies.
  • Stripe — for processing payments on the Pro API plan. Stripe sets cookies for fraud detection and session management on its checkout flow.
  • Sign-in providers — if you sign in with Google or GitHub, those providers set their own cookies during the OAuth flow.

5. Managing cookies

You can manage optional cookies through your browser settings or the cookie banner on first visit. Most browsers let you block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or be prompted before accepting each one.

Note that blocking essential cookies will break the site — you won't be able to log in or save designs.

To manage cookies in common browsers: Chrome (Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies), Safari (Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data), Firefox (Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data), Edge (Settings → Cookies and site permissions).

6. Changes

If we add or change cookies in a way that affects you, we'll update this page and the cookie banner. Minor edits (typos, link fixes) may happen without notice.
